About Robin
There is no wifi in the woods but I promise you will get a better connection !
I started Meditation aged 19, now 57 as I write. I have no idea why I started to meditate other than it seemed like a good idea at the time. Over the years it has come and gone to a greater or lesser degree, but over the last 15 years it has become a natural part of my day to find an hour to sit quietly and simply be with what is happening and how I am feeling. But how you are feeling might be the last thing you want to experience more of! Like all things it takes time and patience, the acts of self kindness are not grandiose but small and daily. Why not try forest bathing?
It has always been a habit of mine to rest in the woods under various large Oaks when out walking and with a name like Robin what did you expect. I do not own green tights or a feathered hat though.
I started to include tree meditations into my personal practice in addition to sitting meditation in my home after a tough divorce. Call it health intuition but it really helped my mental state and physical recovery.
In 2010 I started teaching groups of people Meditation and Mindfulness at the South East Cancer Help Centre in Purley, Surrey. I worked here for over 7 years as well as teaching it voluntarily in the Royal Marsden a major London Cancer Hospital.
The act of meditation under trees, specifically old Oaks, became a passion. I would work my whole day around getting to the woods and I even wrote a kindle book called ''A Short Book about Meditation'' which is available through Amazon.co.uk. I am also the author of the Blackbird, Conversation with a Spiritual Seeker. A 100 Pages on the Notion of Spiritual Enlightenment and my latest paperback, The House of Cards.
My own leaning is towards Chinese Zen or Chan as its called. Zen is Japanese. I found that the old Chinese Masters of The Way or Buddhism as its now called spoke loudly to me, but I have also studied Advaita and many other spiritual texts over many years.
After retiring to Dartmoor and overlooking such huge tracks of ancient forest it seemed silly to not offer this opportunity to other people so here I am.
In a past life I was also employed as a professional Ornithologist so a walk with me will be a guided bird walk as well! Bring binoculars if you've got them. The forests are naturally photogenic so if your into photography as I am please feel free to bring your camera. All of photographs on this website are my own and taken locally.
